Exclusive: Flying Eagles Midfielder, UGONNA EZENWAKA Signs One - Year Contract With Maccabi Netanya, To Earn $3,000 Per Month
Published: November 23, 2012Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively reveal that Flying Eagles defensive midfielder Ugonna Ezenwaka has signed a one - year contract with Maccabi Netanya after one week of trials. Inserted into the contract is an option for an additional four seasons.
Ezenwaka had been scheduled to undergo trials with Maccabi Tel Aviv in October. But it was later discovered that the league leaders had exhausted their foreign quota. Hence, the youngster was sent to Maccabi Netanya.
''Maccabi Tel Aviv had five foreigners in the squad. They told me that I should wait until January or end of the season before they could sign me. So I was sent to train with Maccabi Netanya.
''I can confirm I signed a 1+ 4 year contract last week Friday with Maccabi Netanya. No transfer fee was paid to Ocean Boys as I am a free agent. The deal starts immediately, we are only waiting for my International Transfer Certificate to arrive from Nigeria. Also, my work permit is being processed,'' an elated Ezenwaka told allnigeriasoccer.com from his base in Netanya .
He added: ''I am very happy to sign for Maccabi Netanya. I hope to use this as a stepping stone to achieve greater things. The management is taking good care of me, provided me with a one - bedroom apartment and my feeding is being paid for.''
Ugonna Ezenwaka will earn monthly wages of $3,000. He will play with the number 24 jersey this season.
