Nottingham Forest boss aims to keep squad intact amid Ola Aina's links with Man City, Galatasaray
Published: January 05, 2025
Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has pledged to keep the squad intact in the January transfer window.
The futures of Reds' top scorer Chris Wood and key defender Ola Aina are uncertain with the two players out of contract at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
Ola Aina has yet to put pen to paper on a new deal, which means he can sign a preliminary contract with a non-English club this month.
The Chelsea academy graduate is believed to be on the radar of Turkish champions Galatasaray, while Manchester City are reportedly considering him as a replacement for the aging Kyle Walker.
With a series of exceptional displays for Nottingham Forest, Ola Aina has put himself in the shop window and has started every Premier League game played by the club this season.
According to Nuno Espirito Santo, ensuring the Nottingham Forest squad remains unchanged is his top priority for the transfer window.
In quotes relayed by Sky Sports, the Portuguese football tactician said: "You never know what is going to happen in the transfer window, but our goal is to keep our players intact.
"That is difficult because clubs are looking at all the possibilities, with us included on that. This is our priority."
Ola Aina is not the only Nigeria national teamer with an uncertain future at the two-time European champions.
Given that Taiwo Awoniyi has made only two Premier League starts this season, he should be looking to move away from the City Ground in search of more playing time.
Another forward, Emmanuel Dennis, was deemed surplus to requirements before the season began and was not registered for the Premier League, meaning he has yet to make his season debut.
