MICHAEL NICHOLAS Promises More Transfers
Published: October 02, 2012A Nigerian players’ manager, Michael Nicholas has stated delight with the string of successes he has been able to achieve in marketing several up-and-coming footballers to European clubs, and says he is ready to do more.
While offering allnigeriasoccer.com a long exposé o the work he has done for Nigerian players over the years, Nicholas says he is not relenting, although he admits due reckoning that he deserves has not really come his way.
“I have several players in Europe that are my direct players,” he disclosed. “There are other Nigerian players that I took to Europe as a third party. Those are my products as a middle man.”
Among Nicholas’ players are Konyeha Godwin Onyeka of Pandurii, Romania; Imoh Ezekiel of Standard Liege, Belgium and Sodiq Popoola of FC Metz, France.
Nicholas stated further: “Onyeka is my direct player. In November 2010, I facilitate the travel of the former Delta Force, Anambra United and Rising Star player.
“He was a former Golden Eaglets captain under Coach Alphonsus Dike. Onyeka joined Astra FC team B, from there he moved to 2nd division club side, C.S Luceafarul Oradea FC and last week he joined Pandurii Jargu Jiu FC, a first division club in Romania.
“In September 2011, I recommended 36 Lion FC striker, Imoh Ezekiel to my partner in Belgium (Luan Ahmetaj). He took Imoh Ezekiel to Club Brugge FC of Belgium in January 2012, but things did not work out.
“He then took the boy to Standard Liege FC of Belgium, where the player signed contract on the 31st of January 2012, after 5 days of trials at Standard Liege FC.
“I brought my partner, Luan Ahmetaj of Belgium to 36 Lion FC of Lagos and I introduced him to Gafar Liameed, the owner of the club. Ahmetaj was in Nigeria in the month of June 2012 to watch some friendly matches 36 Lion FC played.
“Luan Ahmetaj is now working with 36 Lion FC as the official international scout and arranged deal for 36 Lion FC midfielder, Sodiq Popoola in FC Metz of France.
“On the 13th September 2012, another 36 Lion FC midfielder, Habeeb Bello travelled to Belgium and he is currently undergoing trials in Club Brugge FC of Belgium. The trial was also arranged by Luan Ahmetaj of Belgium, a seasoned international football player’s scout.
“However, it was the outstanding performance of Imoh Ezekiel at Standard Liege of Belgium that attracted the interest of Turkish super-agent, Hasan Egilmez to work with 36 Lion FC as general manager of the team.”
