KAZEEM AHMED Speaks On Norwegian Cup Semi - Final
Published: September 24, 2012 Kazeem Ahmed has made only seven appearances in the Norwegian first division for Hødd due to fitness concerns Since the fourth round of matches, he has been struggling with a thigh injury.
Ten days ago, the exciting winger played with the reserves as part of his rehabilitation programme, but suffered a relapse of the injury after the game.
Logically, the 23 - year - old misses Thursday's Norwegian Cup semi - final clash against SK Brann. Kazeem has shared his thoughts to allnigeriasoccer.com on the biggest game in the history of the Ulsteinvik based club.
''Historically, Brann is one of the household names of Norwegian football and this context that has brought us together is quite crucial and important in Norwegian football. It is every footballer's dream to play in the FA Cup final, most importantly that we are a second division side.
''It is definitely going to be historical if we could make it to the final as Hodd has never been to the final of the Norwegian FA Cup. It is certainly going to be an overwhelming and mind-blowing atmosphere as everyone around the region will troop out in numbers to come cheer us to victory,'' says Kazeem.
SK Brann have on their payroll two Nigerian offensive players Kim Ojo and Chuks Akabueze, who is a good pal of Kazeem Ahmed. Despite Hodd's underdog tag, Ahmed is optimistic of a cup upset.
''Brann is a very big team and they parade some good players including two of our brothers Kim Ojo and Bentley. Bentley is a very good friend of mine and we have been talking and looking forward to this game since the draws were made and obviously, it is definitely going to be fun.
''On our part, we are battle-ready and we have come to realize that for us to triumph come Thursday, we need to be resolute, believe in capabilities and our fighting spirit must be incessant the whole duration of the game, those are the keys. You know it's a case of David and Goliath here, impossible is nothing,'' adds Kazeem Ahmed.
There is a big possibility that Hodd could be playing in the next edition of the Europa League if they progress to the final of the Norwegian Cup and Molde, candidates to retain the Norwegian championship, overcome Tromso in the second semi-final.
''We are looking forward to playing in the final as it might give us an automatic ticket to play in the Europa League next season The FA Cup final is really a grand occasion here in Norway, an experience that one would really love to garner and share as a footballer, this I presume will motivate the players and I absolutely believe in the squad.I' m utterly positive and I believe we will come out victorious on Thursday evening,'' he concluded.
