Official: Belgian club Royal Antwerp sign two Nigerian attackers including Gabriel Jesus David
Published: March 01, 2025
Through their official channels, Belgian Pro League club Royal Antwerp have announced the signing of two Nigerian attackers.
Royal Antwerp presented 18-year-old forwards Orseer Achihi and Gabriel Jesus David on Friday, February 28.
The two promising players have been signed from Nigerian grassroots club P Sports Football Academy.
While Achihi has joining Royal Antwerp on a permanent basis, having put pen to paper on a long-term contract, David, who has been described as a 'highly interesting' striker, has joined on loan with an option to buy included in the deal.
The deal that took the Nigerian teenagers to Antwerp was brokered by Oslo-based Nigerian agent Atta Aneke who looks after Super Eagles players Odion Ighalo, Victor Boniface and Chidera Ejuke.
Nigeria international Alhassan Yusuf was player of Antwerp for three seasons before he was poached by Major League Soccer outfit New England Revolution in August 2024.
Other Nigerian footballers who have won the jersey of the Reds in the past include Jason Adesanya, Tosin Dosunmu, Chidera Ejuke, Bimbo Fatokun, George Ilenikhena, Dominic Iorfa, Funso Ojo, Victor Udoh and Peter Utaka.
After twenty seven matches in the Belgian top-flight, Antwerp are fifth in the standings with 44 points before their next match in the division against Cercle Brugge on Saturday afternoon.
