Done deal: FC Vaduz loan in talented attacker Adriano Onyegbule from FC Basel
Published: January 03, 2025Swiss Super League powerhouse FC Basel have announced that Germany youth international of Nigerian descent, Adriano Onyegbule has been loaned out to FC Vaduz.
The 18-year-old has joined FC Vaduz, who sit fourth in the Swiss Challenge League, for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season with no option to buy included in the agreement.
He spent the first half of the campaign at FC Schaffhausen, where he scored one goal in ten outings in the second tier of Swiss football and played in two matches in the Swiss Cup.
FC Basel snapped up the youngster on a free transfer from German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022.
Onyegbule has since played four games for FC Basel's first team, including appearances in the Super League, Swiss Cup and UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
For the U21s, Onyegbule featured predominantly, netting four goals in 39 appearances in the Hoval Promotion League.
Commenting on the signing of the German-Nigerian attacker, FCV sports director Franz Burgmeier said: "We are very happy that we were able to win Adriano for FCV.
"He is a highly talented offensive player who has already proven his qualities in the Super League and now also in the Challenge League.
"With him and his robustness, we hope to achieve even more variability in the offensive area. He will certainly be able to strengthen us in the second half of the season"
A native of Würzburg, Onyegbule has caps for Germany at U16 and U17 level but has yet to make a competitive appearance for the youth teams.
