'Everyone was egoistic except Osimhen'- Ex-Fenerbahce chief singles out Galatasaray striker for praise
Published: November 24, 2024Former Fenerbahçe Head of Football Operations, Rıdvan Dilmen has singled out Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen for praise for his performance in the Lion’s 1-0 win over Bodrum FK in a Trendyol Süper Lig fixture played on Saturday, November 23.
Okan Buruk’s side wasn't at their blistering best, as it was only the second time they had scored just once in a game in the Turkish top flight this term.
Mitchy Batsuayi scored the only goal of the game, heading the ball home from Dries Merten's cross to make it two goals in his past two appearances.
Six minutes after the hour mark, Osimhen was presented with a good opportunity to double the scoring when faced with the goalkeeper but selfishly passed to Hakim Ziyech, who only had to tap the ball into an empty net, but shockingly skied it.
Few minutes before stoppage time, Gabriel Sara played the Super Eagles striker through on goal, but his effort was thwarted by the Bodrum goalkeeper.
Galatasaray's missed chances could have proved costly as Bodrum came close to scoring through Gokdeniz Bayrakdar but his effort came off the woodwork.
Dilmen wasn't pleased with the performance of the Istanbul-based side but was impressed with Osimhen, despite the Nigerian striker failing to register a goal involvement in the game.
"Galatasaray's concentration was zero and I saw that they underestimated the opponent. Bodrum FK's capacity was also clear," he told HT Spor via haber sari kirmizi.
"What was surprising was that I have never seen Galatasaray look so scattered since the beginning of the season.
"It was a match where everyone was egoistic except Victor Osimhen. The one who saw the goal took a shot. The attacks did not work either. Osimhen passed the ball even when he was supposed to take the shot."
By failing to score or assist in yesterday's fixture, the 25-year-old's run of getting at least a goal involvement in every Süper Lig fixture he has featured came to an end.
