Done deal : Manchester United loan out another Flying Eagles-eligible player
Published: January 20, 2023With a statement on their official website, Manchester United have confirmed that exciting winger Shola Shoretire has sealed a loan switch to EFL League One club Bolton Wanderers for the remainder of the season.
Shoretire is the second Flying Eagles-eligible player to be loaned out by United this week, following in the footsteps of versatile Anglo-Polish-Nigerian midfielder Maximilian Oyedele who joined National League outfit Altrincham.
Shoretire will be aiming to get his first taste of regular first team football at Bolton Wanderers who made a move for him after the transfer of Dapo Afolayan to St. Pauli.
The 18-year-old was in the Manchester United development squad that lost to the Trotters in a Papa Johns Trophy clash last month and has also faced Football League opposition in the form of Fleetwood Town, Morecambe, Accrington Stanley, Lincoln City and Bradford in the past.
The 2020-21 Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year has made the bench for Premier League, Europa League and Carabao Cup matches this season but was a non-playing substitute.
Shoretire has been allocated the number 17 jersey at Bolton Wanderers - a shirt previously worn by two Nigerian players Afolayan and Derik Osede.
Bolton Wanderers are fifth in the League One standings with 44 points from 26 matches ahead of their trip to Derby County on Saturday, January 21.
