Nigeria One Step Closer To Beating England To Wolverhampton Wanderers-Owned Striker
Published: November 10, 2019The Nigeria Football Federation have moved one step closer to beating their English counterparts to the services of Wolverhampton Wanderers-owned striker Bright Enobakhare, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
On Saturday, the Benin City-born starlet pulled on a Nigeria jersey with the number 18 at its back as the Olympic Team suffered a narrow 1-0 loss at the hands of Ivory Coast in their U23 Africa Cup of Nations opener.
In doing so, Enobakhare became provisionally cap-tied to Nigeria, meaning he has to apply to FIFA for a change of association should the English FA decide to poach him in future.
The 21-year-old had played in a nonbinding game for the Dream Team VII against Cameroon on Tuesday, November 5 before manager Imama Amapakabo handed him a start against the Young Elephants.
He was in action for 56 minutes before making way for Sunusi Ibrahim.
With playing opportunities not guaranteed at Wolves in the 2019-2020 campaign, Enobakhare has been loaned out to Wigan Athletic for the whole of this season, his third loan stint since his arrival at the Molineux Stadium after previously playing for Kilmarnock and Coventry City.
