Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi missed an opportunity to audition for Manchester United and a trio of other European clubs who watched Benfica's win over Rio Ave in their Primeira Liga game last weekend.
Portuguese news outlet Record has revealed that the English club were at the Estádio da Luz on Saturday to run the rule over the players in action, and watched on as the hosts ran out 2-0 winners.
The report also reckoned that this was not the first time the Red Devils talent hunters had made such trip to Benfica's games, as they are a 'usual presence', but Ebuehi has yet to play for the club this term.
The 23-year-old has actually been missing from action for Benfica since returning back from injury — a factor which explained why Gernot Rohr opted not to hand him playing time against Brazil last month and then completely overlooked him for the upcoming international window.
Emissaries from Tondela (Portugal), Betis (Spain) and Bordeaux (France) were also in attendance for the game in Lisbon.
Benfica head coach Bruno Lage has yet to provide an update on the state of the right-back, or why he has failed to utilise him since his return from injury this season.
Ebuehi joined Benfica from ADO Den Haag in the summer of 2018.
