Nigeria's Golden Eaglets began their quest for a sixth FIFA U-17 World Cup title with a 4-2 win over Hungaryon Saturday evening.
The Hungarians scored the game's opener in the six-goal thriller as early the third minute through Gyorgy Komaromi who profited from a cross on the right side of the Nigerian defence.
Wisdom Ubani went close to equalising but his free-kick close to the Hungarians' 18 yard box missed target by whiskers.
The Eaglets dominated possession and it paid off in the 20th minute when Ubani was fouled inside the opponents' vital area. Captain Samson Tijani stepped up to convert from 12 yards.
Hungary restored their lead in the 28th minute as Samuel Major pounced on a loose ball to fire an unstoppable shot past Daniel Jinadu in Nigeria's goal.
Striker Ubani was stretched off after suffering a suspected ankle injury albeit he emerged for the second half seemingly unscathed.
The Eaglets proved to be a threat attackingĀ wise but the defensive discipline of the Europeans further frustrated Manu Garba's boys.
Samson Tijani's deflected free-kick five minutes to the end of the match side footed goalkeeper Krisztian Hegyi for Nigeria's fourth goal.

First, Usman Ibrahim headed home from a corner kick in the 79th minute while Oluwatimilehin Adeniyi also scored two minutes later from a header stooping low to head the ball to the bottom right corner from a tantalising cross.
