Chelsea Loanee Tomori Sends Message To EFL: It's Not An Own Goal
Published: April 22, 2018Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori has sent a message to the English Football League, informing the organizers of the Championship that Hull City's second goal against Bristol City on Saturday should be credited to him.
There's still a debate over whether the England U21 international should be awarded the disputed goal as his downward header hit the woodwork onto goalkeeper Frank Fielding and into the net.
Though Tomori and Hull City have celebrated the right-back's first professional goal, several statistical football websites credited Bristol City goalkeeper with the own goal.
''So happy to score my first professional goal vs Bristol City today in a crazy, crazy game.. 5-5 draw! '' Tomori posted on Twitter.
''I know @EFL won’t give it as an own goal🙄😒. Thanks to the away fans again, as always, in full voice🗣. #Tigers''
Tomori showed he has the ability to score goals whilst playing for Chelsea's youth teams, netting 8 goals in 90 appearances across three seasons but did not hit target in his first 35 games as a professional.
