Omeruo Must Be Targeting Chance At Chelsea After Starring For Kasimpasa

Kenneth Omeruo is having unarguably one of his best seasons with Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super League, since joining the Apaches on loan from Chelsea, and it would surely be heart-warming for Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr particularly with the World Cup tourney just around the corner.

The Abia-born defender has been one of the finest performers for Kasimpasa who sit ninth on the league table and are still within chance of securing European football if they can keep up their newly found form, of which Omeruo have been central to.

Omeruo has made 25 appearances in defense for the club this term, and alongside Veysel Sari have formed a rock solid partnership in the heart of the team's defense, while they have shut out their opponents in each of their last three games.

Having found first team football hard to come by during his time with the Blues, the 24-year old has had to make do with loan spells — stops at Ado Den Haag, Middlesbrough and Alanyaspor, and a close look at how efficient he has been with his latest could play a big part in convincing his parent club to trust and give him a role with the club.

While he has become more matured and composed in executing his defensive duties — a disposition which has seen him pick up just three bookings in the league this term, his versatility equally means he could play across any position in the backline in any type of defensive set up and could be one of Nigeria's Russia party as they bid for World Cup glory in less than two months time.

A host of Chelsea's first team defenders have under-impressed this term; Gary Cahill's form has been patchy of late, David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger have seen little game time and have been touted to leave the club, Palmieri Emerson has yet to hit the ground running and it could look like right if the club decides to hand a chance to one of its players who has been with the club for quite some time, than going for marquee recruitment to add in their rearguard.

Kenneth Omeruo joined Chelsea in January 2012 and is contracted to the Stamford Bridge outfit until 2020.
