Sunderland Boss Provides Key Update On Nigeria Striker Anichebe
Sunderland manager David Moyes has revealed that Victor Anichebe is making progress in his bid to return to match fitness and is set to be handed playing opportunities in the upcoming games in the Premier League.

Since his arrival at SR5 1SU as a free agent in September, the Nigeria international has yet to make his debut owing to fitness issues, but officials of the Black Cats are working round the clock to get him in tip-top condition.

“We hope to see Victor soon because he has got Premier League experience and we are short of strikers as we showed a little bit in midweek with our cup game,
” Moyes told Sunderland’s official website.

“Overall we need him because he is a Premier League player and he can bring some experience, but we are trying to get him in the right condition.

“I would like him to get some minutes in games but we have been like that since the start of the season. We have been able to give Victor some training so he isn’t too far away.”

Anichebe, 28, was released by West Brom at the end of last season and has now been reunited with David Moyes who gave him his big break at Everton.
