'We love him' - Nottingham Forest boss provides update on Ola Aina's contract situation
Published: November 28, 2024Speaking ahead of Nottingham Forest's Premier League clash with Ipswich Town at the City Ground on Saturday, Nuno Espírito Santo has provided an update on Ola Aina's contractual discussions with the club.
The Super Eagle' right-back's contract ends next summer, and Forest are keen to tie him down to avoid losing him for free.
Aina has been a faithful servant for the two-time European champions since he arrived from Torino with his consistency in performances and availability for matchday selection.
He is one of the players to have played every single game in the Premier League this term and has come up with fantastic performances.
The Cobham Academy product has put up excellent defensive performances against Liverpool forward Luis Díaz and Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho, among a host of others.
He scored a Goal of the Month contender during Forest's 3-0 win over West Ham United earlier this month, demonstrating his ability to add goals to his excellent defensive performances.
Unsurprisingly, the club are ready to retain his services beyond this season with clubs ready to grab his signature if he fails to extend his stay at City Ground.
Espírito is positive about the Nigeria international extending his stay at the club and has expressed his satisfaction with his performances
When asked about a potential new contract for Aina and where things are right now, the Portuguese gaffer told reporters: "I think things are going well. I am a coach, I give my opinion. We love what Ola is doing, we love him as a player, as a person.
"There are other people in the club that take care of those discussions."
Forest have lost the last two Premier League games and will be hoping to return to winning ways against Ipswich in Saturday's fixture.
