Bayer Leverkusen ready to offer new deal to Victor Boniface amid links to Manchester United

Bayer Leverkusen are ready to keep hold of Victor Boniface amid recent links with Premier League giants Manchester United
According to German newspaper Bild via 4-4-2.com, the German Bundesliga champions want to hand their star striker a contract extension alongside Florian Wirtz.
Boniface's present contract ends in the summer of 2028, meaning he has close to four years left on his deal but Bayer Leverkusen are ready to extend it by a year to tie him down at the club.
Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the Nigeria international as they seek to end their goal-scoring woes in the January transfer window.
However, a deal for the 23-year-old is more likely to happen in the summer, but his acquisition would not come cheap, and Bayer Leverkusen's latest intention to extend his contract shows their desire to keep him.
Boniface has notched eight goals and one assist across all competitions this term but is currently injured, thereby missing the last two games.
In his absence, Patrik Schick has done admirably well and is now threatening his place, having recorded the same amount of goals.
Last season, Boniface's momentum was stalled by a lengthy injury, and he will aim to avoid a similar setback this term to fend off any competition for his place in the starting lineup.
He has not been called up for four matches this season, comprising two in the Champions League, one in the Bundesliga, and one in the DFB-Pokal.
