'When I'm gone, you gonna miss me' - Aston Villa target Iheanacho drops huge hint on his Leicester future
Published: May 06, 2024Kelechi Iheanacho has dropped a major hint about his future with Leicester City amid speculation linking him with a potential move to Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
The Nigeria national teamer is expected to depart the King Power Stadium in the off season with Unai Emery's Aston Villa targeting the Manchester City academy graduate as back-up striker to Ollie Watkins.
It is known that Aston Villa have maintained a long-term interest in Iheanacho and attempted to sign the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner four years ago but a move did not happen.
Iheanacho, who has approximately two months left on his contract with Leicester City, more or less confirmed his departure from the King Power stadium as he was spotted wearing a t-shirt with the inscription, 'We've got HISTORY. When I'm gone, you gonna miss Me', after the club's final game of the season against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The Super Eagles star found himself out of favour upon his return to England after competing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, logging a paltry 57 minutes from a possible 1,350 in the Championship.
In an exclusive interview with Dr Nabila Fash, Iheanacho was asked how he felt after Leicester's promotion to the Premier League and he responded: "I feel good, I feel great, it's a massive achievement. "
Asked where he's going from here, Iheanacho said: "I don't know for now, I'm still a Leicester City player."
Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu gatecrashed the interview, insisting that his Nigerian pal was not being honest.
Signed from Manchester City in the summer of 2017, Iheanacho netted 61 goals in 232 all-competition appearances for Leicester City.
