Balogun's future : USMNT coach holds positive talks with Arsenal loanee, Nigerian agent
Published: April 05, 2023
United States Men's National team interim head coach Anthony Hudson has revealed that he has had positive discussions with Arsenal-owned striker Folarin Balogun over his international future.
Balogun's international future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks as he is yet to make a senior national team appearance for England, the United States and Nigeria, the three countries he is eligible to represent.
Apparently, Balogun's international future has been hugging the headlines due to the exceptional season he is having at Stade de Reims in the Ligue 1, scoring 17 league goals so far.
The forward represents the England U21 team presently but seems to be considering his options after news emerged that he had spoken with USMNT''s interim coach, Hudson.
Balogun is represented by Nigerian agent Emeka Obasi, who also looks after Super Eagles stars Terem Moffi, Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, Ola Aina and Josh Maja, plus 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei.
In quotes relayed by the Daily Mail, Hudson stated : "We had some very good conversations with Flo and his agent, just sharing what we do, talking to him about where we see him in our team, allowing him just to get a feel for the country, the team, the guys.
'The conversations went really, really well, and then, since he and his agent went back to Europe, there have just been a couple of text messages and now it's down to him to make a decision.'
In a bid to get him to stay with England and wait for a call-up into the senior national side, England U21 coach Lee Carsley is also set to discuss Balogun in the coming days.
