Sheffield Wednesday hand trial to Anglo-Nigerian defender
Published: December 07, 2022League One promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly running the rule over Anglo-Nigerian defender Ayo Tanimowo with a view to a possible transfer.
According to The Star, The Owls have taken former Brighton & Hove Albion defender, Tanimowo, on trial in order to have a closer look at him.
Tanimowo is currently unemployed after he was released by the Seagulls at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract.
The 21-year-old shone as Sheffield Wednesday defeated Huddersfield Town B 3-0 in a friendly on Tuesday, playing as a right-sided central defender.
Nigeria-eligible trio Akin Famewo, Dennis Adeniran and David Agbontohoma also started for Sheffield Wednesday in their comprehensive win over the Terriers.
Tanimowo will initially start with Sheffield Wednesday's U21 team if he impresses the coaching staff during his trial period and is offered a contract.
He has previous experience at U21 level, making 24 appearances combined across three seasons at Brighton & Hove.
