PL2 : Tuchel, John Terry, Makelele, Mount in attendance as Etete finds the net vs Chelsea
Published: May 08, 2022Chelsea survived a scare on the final day of the Premier League 2 season, coming from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Cobham Training Centre on Sunday afternoon to avoid relegation to the PL2 Division Two.
Heading into the fixture, the Blues were two points behind Leeds United and needed a win to beat the drop.
The Blues named a strong squad against their London rivals with first team stars Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah beefing up their defence.
Anglo-Nigerian centre-forward Kion Etete started for Tottenham Hotspur and 2021 Super Eagles invitee Joshua Oluwayemi was an unused substitute.
Chelsea legends John Terry and Claude Makelele were in attendance to offer their support to the U23 side, and they were joined by academy graduates Mason Mount and Reece James, plus German duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, according to Chelsea youth team guru Chelsea Youth.
According to Chelsea's official website, manager Thomas Tuchel and his coaching staff also monitored proceedings.
Mount, James, Werner, Havertz, Terry, Makelele...famous onlookers everywhere. Big day.

After a goalless first half, Etete converted at the far post to open the scoring in the 57th minute but two goals scored by substitutes Dion Rankine and Joe Haigh in the final ten minutes saw Chelsea secure three points.
Etete is back at Tottenham Hotspur after spending the second half of the season on loan at League One club Cheltenham Town.
