Roma v Leicester : Two Super Eagles star in contention to show off to ex-Foxes coach
Published: May 03, 2022Former Chelsea, Fulham, Watford and Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has confirmed that he will be in the stands on Thursday evening when AS Roma host the Foxes in the UEFA Europa Conference League semifinal, second leg clash at the Stadio Olimpico, informs La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Providing there are no last-minute surprises, two attack-mined Super Eagles players Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman will be involved in some capacity in the important match with the Giallorossi.
Five matches to the end of the Premier League season, Leicester City have almost given up on qualifying for next season's European competitions through their league position as they currently trail seventh-placed West Ham United by ten points, albeit they have two games in hand.
Iheanacho, Lookman and their teammates will try to beat AS Roma, particularly as they were forced to a 1-1 draw in last Thursday's tie at the King Power Stadium.
The two Nigeria internationals did not play under Ranieri who coached Leicester City to the Premier League title in 2016.
A native of Rome, Ranieri will be rooting for AS Roma to win the game despite his past professional ties with the Foxes.
Iheanacho and Lookman have been included in every matchday squad for the knockout round of the Europa Conference League, with both tasting action in seven games each.
