Iheanacho on target but Leicester City lose to Heung-min Son-inspired Tottenham Hotspur
Published: May 01, 2022Kelechi Iheanacho's goal counted for nothing as Leicester City were beaten 3-1 by Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Super Eagles striker went the distance for the Foxes and international teammate Ademola Lookman was a non-playing substitute, four days before their Europa Conference League semifinal, second leg tie with Jose Mourinho's AS Roma.
Heung-min Son was the standout performer with a hand in all the three goals scored by the north London club.
Three Lions captain Harry Kane broke the deadlock midway through the first half, heading home a corner from Son.
Iheanacho came close to restoring parity when he tried to pick out the bottom corner with a drive but it was wide of the post in the 37th minute.
Son slotted the ball into the bottom far corner to double Spurs' advantage on the hour mark and made it 3-0 nineteen minutes later with an excellent shot from outside the box.
One minute into stoppage time, Iheanacho netted his third career against Tottenham Hotspur, sweeping a low effort inside the near post, taking his goal involvements to seventeen in all competitions in the process.
Following the win against the Foxes, Tottenham are back in the top four but have played one game more than fifth placed Arsenal.
