Exclusive : Union Berlin target another Super Eagles striker as possible replacement for Awoniyi
Published: April 29, 2022Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that German Bundesliga side Union Berlin have identified Randers' Nigeria national teamer Stephen Odey as a possible replacement for Taiwo Awoniyi.
Having put himself in the shop window with eighteen goals in all competitions, Awoniyi has been tipped to move on to pastures new in the summer transfer window, with the English Premier League his preferred destination.
Another Nigeria international striker on the books of Union Berlin in Anthony Ujah has two months before the expiry of his contract and it is unlikely his contract will be renewed.
Union Berlin have already started scouring the market for Awoniyi's replacement and have placed Odey on their list of transfer targets.
And the former Mountain of Fire star will not come cheap with Randers looking at selling him for a fee of 4.5 million euros (approximately N2b in Nigerian currency).
Odey has accumulated 29 appearances in all competitions since joining Randers last summer and in those games he has tallied 13 goals and provided two assists.
The 24-year-old has a contract with the East Jutland club until June 30, 2024.
