Rangnick names Nigeria-eligible midfielder in Man Utd's provisional matchday squad vs Chelsea
Published: April 28, 2022Manager Ralf Rangnick has named Nigeria-eligible attacking midfielder Shola Shoretire in his provisional matchday squad for Thursday night's Premier League meeting with Chelsea at Old Trafford.
Manchester Evening News has confirmed that the England U19 international is in the Red Devils squad to face Chelsea.
Rangnick will not be able to count on as many as six first team stars for the visit of the world champions.
Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have joined Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw in the Manchester United treatment room.
Rangnick revealed at his pre-match press conference that he may consider using players from the youth team to beef up the squad in their four remaining matches in the Premier League.
Shoretire has received his first call-up for a Premier League game this season and his last appearance for the first team came against Young Boys in the Champions League back in December.
The 18-year-old was spotted training with Manchester United first teamers in the lead up to tonight's game.
