PL2 : Okoflex provides brilliant assist for West Ham in draw against Chelsea
Published: March 12, 2022West Ham United and Chelsea shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in a Premier League 2 clash at Kingsmeadow on Friday night.
The Hammers squad was captained by Anglo-Nigerian central defender Ajibola Alese and he was joined in the starting lineup by ex-Arsenal schoolboy and Republic of Ireland youth teamer Armstrong Okoflex.
After a goalless first half, Sonny Perkins lifted the ball around the goalkeeper with a cool finish to open the scoring after Okoflex burst through midfield and played in the West Ham striker at minute 62.
With fifteen minutes to go, Chelsea restored parity through Thierno Ballo, who was there to head in via the underside of the cross-bar after a cross from the left.
Signed from Scottish giants Celtic last summer, Okoflex has been involved in 13 goals (11 goals, 2 assists) from seventeen appearances in the Premier League 2 so far this season.
His other strike for the Hammers development squad was against the first team of Ipswich Town in the Papa John's Trophy.
The talented Irish-Nigerian winger has received ten call-ups to West Ham's first team so far this season without making his debut off the bench.
