'Schmeichel says Iheanacho is best finisher at the club' - Ex-Liverpool star hails Leicester no 14
Published: March 11, 2022Leicester City have a great opportunity to qualify for the last eight of the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League after a 2-0 win over French opponents Rennes at the King Power Stadium on Thursday night.
All three players invited for the 2022 World Cup playoff vs Ghana tasted action with Wilfred Ndidi playing the full game, Kelechi Iheanacho logging 28 minutes and Ademola Lookman joined the action with ten minutes to go.
Marc Albrighton slammed an 18-yard strike into the top corner to open the scoring in the 30th minute.
Three minutes into stoppage time, Iheanacho scored a massive goal for the Foxes, slotting into the far corner with fellow substitute Lookman involved in the build-up to the goal.
Speaking on BT Sport post-match, former Liverpool and England center forward Emile Heskey praised Iheanacho for his strike and revealed what goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel said about the number 14.
"Kasper Schmeichel says Iheanacho is the best finisher at the club and that is fantastic. The finish was not easy at all," said Heskey.
"It’s great for him to score, especially with Jamie Vardy being out. The club rely on Vardy but it’s not just about him."
Iheanacho has either scored or assisted in all the six competitions he has been involved in for the Foxes this season including the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, League Cup, Europa Conference League and Community Shield.
