'That's a family decision' - Arsenal icon and 1998 World Cup winner Vieira on Olise's int'l future
Published: March 10, 2022Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has revealed that Michael Olise's international future is a family decision, adding that the Crystal Palace winger has not yet asked him for any advice.
There are reports that Three Lions manager Gareth Southagte has got Olise on his radar as a potential England call-up.
A World Cup winner with France in 1998, Vieira is familiar with national associations battling for the services of players, as he was also eligible to represent his country of birth Senegal and Cape Verde through his mother before pledging his international future to the Europeans.
Olise is spoilt for choice over the national team to represent internationally as he is eligible for world champions France, England and African giants Nigeria and Algeria.
A year ago, the Anglo-French-Nigerian-Algerian winger was playing in the Championship with Reading but has shown he has the quality to play in the Premier League with a string of fine displays for the Eagles.
Asked if he has spoken to Olise on where he sees his international future, Vieira answered ; "No, that is the decision that he has to make as a player. That is a family decision, so he didn't come to ask me for advice.
"What is important for Michael is that at the moment he's playing well. His focus and concentration has to be on Crystal Palace, and how to work well in training and keep performing like he has been doing in the last couple of games."

Olise was a member of the France squad to the 2019 Toulon Tournament, where he started games against Qatar and
