Plumptre trains fully with Leicester Women after missing defeats to Chelsea, Man Utd
Published: March 09, 2022Nigeria international Ashleigh Plumptre is in contention to return to Leicester City Women's matchday squad for the trip to Everton on Saturday, March 12.
The central defender missed the defeats to Chelsea and Manchester United as she was recovering from illness after international duty with the Super Falcons.
The former England youth international starred as Nigeria qualified for the 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations, helping the Super Falcons post two clean sheets in the wins against Ivory Coast home and away.
Plumptre returned to training this week, putting her in contention to make her fifteenth appearance in this season's Women's Super League against the Blues at Walton Hall Park.
Providing an update on the state of the Leicester City Women squad, manager Lydia Bedford said in her pre-match press conference : "We’ve no new injuries at this stage.
"And we’ve been lucky to have Ash (Ashleigh Plumptre) back in the squad for the weekend. I think that it’s from who was missing last weekend."
Plumptre netted her first ever goal in the Women's Super League as Leicester City thrashed West Ham United 3-0 on February 13.
