UYL : Two Nigeria-eligible players involved in Man Utd's final workout pre-Borussia Dortmund
Published: March 01, 2022Two players of Nigerian descent were involved in Manchester United's last training session before their UEFA Youth League clash with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday evening.
Central midfielder Maxi Oyedele and attacking midfielder Shola Shoretire participated in the training session at Carrington Training Ground on Monday, putting them in contention to be included in the matchday squad to face the in-form German side.
Oyedele is a first year scholar at United and Shoretire is in his first full season as a professional.
England U19 international Shoretire has been among the star performers for the Red Devils youth teams this season, with a goal contribution of sixteen (8 goals, 8 assists) in 22 appearances.
He has also appeared for the first team in the group stage of the Champions League, coming off the bench for the last 22 minutes in the home leg against Young Boys.
Oyedele has forced his way into the U18s starting lineup, going the distance in five of their last six matches in the U18 Premier League and has been involved in all their matches in the FA Youth Cup.
Should Manchester United overcome Borussia Dortmund at Leigh Sports Village, they will be at home to the winners of the derby between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid in the quarterfinals.
