Southampton interested in Nigeria-eligible midfielder 14 years after Chelsea beat them to signature
Faustino Anjorin is reportedly attracting interest from English Premier League club Southampton few days before the close of the January transfer window.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Saints are keen on landing the Anglo-Nigerian before deadline day despite the attacking midfielder currently on a season-long loan at Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl is in the market for a number 10 and has targeted the Blues academy product as a priority signing.

Anjorin's loan deal with the Moscovites included a purchase option and buy-back option.

The England U20 international has been sidelined by injury since October 2021 and is back at Chelsea receiving treatment.

Anjorin was scouted by Southampton and Bournemouth during his preschool years and rotated his time between the two clubs but Chelsea beat both teams to his services, signing him at U7 level, fourteen years ago.

Southampton have done transfer business with the European champions over the last one year, bringing in exciting youngsters Tino Livramento and Dynel Simeu and acquired Albania forward Armando Broja on a temporary basis.
