'A very good player' - Watford icon admits he would not have liked to face Super Eagles striker
Published: January 18, 2022Legendary Watford defender Lloyd Doyley has admitted that he would not have liked to come up against Emmanuel Dennis during his playing days because the Super Eagles striker is a very good player.
Dennis has fallen off the radar in these parts since the start of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations - a tournament that he was supposed to be play a part for Nigeria had Watford not blocked him from linking up with his international teammates.
The 24-year-old has taken the Premier League by storm since his arrival from Club Brugge for a modest fee last summer.
With his pace and trickery, Dennis has been the Hornets standout player, leading the way in both goals (8) and assists (5) after eighteen appearances in the top-flight.
The Nigerian has found the net against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Leicester City and West Ham United, who all finished in the top six last season.
Answering fans questions in the January 14 edition of Inside The Hive, Doyley said on Dennis : "He is a very good player. He has scored eight goals and has many assists – he looks a danger anytime he gets on the ball.
"He can go right or left. I’m not sure I would've liked to play against him."
Dennis has been in the international wilderness since November 17, 2020 when he came off the bench in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.
