John Terry returns to Chelsea; will mentor Nigeria-eligible players, work with Nigerian coach
Published: December 30, 2021European champions Chelsea have informed via their official website that one of the greatest players in their history, John Terry has returned to the club to take up a a coaching consultancy role at the Chelsea Academy.
The Blues legend will work with young players and coaching staff in the youth development programme.
Terry will contribute to coaching discussions with colleagues including Chelsea U16 Nigerian coach Hassan Sulaiman, mentor academy players and support parent dialogue.
The former England defender will advise several players of Nigerian descent in the club's academy.
Louis Flower, Derrick Abu, Prince Adegoke, Tudor Mendel-Idowu, Richard Olise, Tariq Uwakwe and Bryan Fiabema, who all have Nigerian blood flowing in their veins, will be working with Terry as from the start of next month.
The aforementioned players of Nigerian descent will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of the Chelsea icon who was a youth team scholar before going on to make 717 senior appearances for the club.

Terry was teammates with 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winners John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses , as well as Olympics gold medalist Celestine Babayaro during his time as a Chelsea player.
