Teenage Nigeria-eligible striker signs new contract with Arsenal
Published: December 09, 2021Henry Timi Davies has taken to social media to announce that he has signed a new contract with Premier League side Arsenal.
Allnigeriasoccer.com reported nine months ago that Davies was going to sign his first professional contract with the Gunners during the 2021-2022 season and the Anglo-Nigerian has confirmed as much.
Born November 27, 2004, the promising striker was eligible to sign his first professional contract after turning 17 twelve days ago.
Signed from Manchester City at the back end of last season, Davies began the season as a first-year scholar at Arsenal with a pro deal embedded in his contract, which is now activated.
"Happy to sign my first professional contract. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on my journey," Davies posted on Instagram on Wednesday evening.
Davies will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of Hale End Academy graduates Alex Iwobi, Chuba Akpom, Bukayo Saka, Miguel Azeez and Folarin Balogun who rose through the academy ranks before making their first team debuts for Arsenal.
The former Manchester City schoolboy made his competitive debut for Arsenal U18s against West Ham United in the Premier League Cup back in September.
