21-year-old Omole rubs shoulders with Harry Kane Tottenham's final workout pre-Rennes
Published: December 08, 2021Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte promoted London-born Nigerian defender Tobi Omole to first-team training a day before the north London club tackle Rennes in the UEFA Europa Conference League, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The former Arsenal starlet participated in the final training session on Wednesday, putting him in contention to make his professional debut against the French opponents.
Spurs have been hit by a COVID-19 outbreak ahead of tomorrow's fixture with as many as eight first-team players and five members of staff testing positive, enhancing the likelihood of Omole making the matchday squad versus Rennes.
Omole rubbed shoulders with established first team stars such as Harry Kane, Davinson Sanchez, Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon during today's workout held at Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre.
The 21-year-old was a non-playing substitute in Tottenham's first two Europa Conference League matches with Rennes and NS Mura.
Two Nigeria-eligible youngsters could take to the pitch on Thursday; Lesley Ugochukwu, nephew of former Super Eagles center back Onyekachi Apam, has been named in Rennes' traveling squad to the English capital.
Tottenham Hotspur, who are second in Group G, need to get a better result than Vitesse to be guaranteed a spot in the knockout round playoffs.
