Talented midfielder of Nigerian descent makes UYL debut for Manchester United
Published: December 08, 2021Talented midfielder of Nigerian descent Max Oyedele has made his UEFA Youth League debut for Premier League giants Manchester United.
A first year scholar, Oyedele was named in the starting lineup in the ongoing game between Manchester United and Young Boys at Leigh Sports Village Stadium.
Wearing the number 83 on the back of his jersey, he started as part of a three-man midfield also containing Hansen-Aarøen and Mainoo.
United U19 boss Neil Wood opted to give playing time to some fringe players in the squad as they have already qualified to the last sixteen as Group F winners regardless of the outcome of today's match.
Previously, Oyedele's other squad involvements came against Atalanta (h) and Villarreal (a) but he was a non-playing substitute on both occasions.
Schoolboy Habeeb Ogunneye, an England U17 international of Nigerian descent, and Netherlands youth teamer Dillon Hoogewerf are among the substitutes for Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Shola Shoretire has been left out of the matchday squad, a clear indication that he will be involved in some capacity when the first team face off with Young Boys at Old Trafford tonight.
