Aston Villa boss describes Man City GK blocking Carney's goalbound effort as 'big moment'
Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has described Carney Chukwuemeka's goalbound effort blocked by goalkeeper Ederson during his side's 2-1 loss to Manchester City at Villa Park as a 'big moment'.

The England U19 captain of Nigerian descent played his first game under Gerrard after coming off the bench in the 67th minute to replace Matt Targett, who was unable to continue due to injury.

With fifteen minutes left on the clock and Aston Villa trailing 2-1, Chukwuemeka forced a great save from Ederson.

The central midfielder was thwarted by the Brazil international after he was put through on goal by Buendía, otherwise it would have been 2-2 and Aston Villa would have gotten at least one point from the game.

Speaking to BBC Sport post-match, Gerrard said : "Ollie was unplayable at times. Young kid comes on and his big moment comes. Keeper makes a save but he will learn from that.

"We also has real decent shout for a penalty. I don't understand why the referee didn't look at the screen."

Carney Chukwuemeka, 18, was a non-playing substitute in Steven Gerrard's first two games in charge of Aston Villa.
