Bordeaux Hat-trick Hero Maja Named In Ligue 1 TOTW; Receives Perfect 10/10 Rating
Published: December 05, 2019Bordeaux striker Josh Maja has been recognized for his brilliant display in the last round of matches in the French Ligue 1, with football statistics website Whoscored.com naming him in the Team of the Week.
The Nigeria international was the star of the show as Bordeaux hammered Nimes 6-0 on matchday sixteen, bagging his first career hat-trick and an assist to go with it.
In a 4-4-2 formation favored by Whoscored, Maja was named in attack along with Monaco's France international Wissam Ben Yedder.
The Bordeaux number 9 was among three players awarded a rating of 10/10, the others being Otávio Henrique Santos (Bordeaux) and Cristian Battocchio (Brest).
Maja registered a game-high four shots against Nimes, three of which ended up in the back of the net; made one key pass, was fouled once and completed one take-on.
He had a pass completion rate of 71.4 percent, touched the ball 22 times and made 14 passes.
The former Sunderland wonderkid has one cap for the Super Eagles which came against Ukraine in an international friendly in September 2019.
