'I Am Happy The Coach Put His Faith In Me'- Osimhen On His Importance To Super Eagles
Published: December 03, 2019Lille striker Victor Osimhen is becoming to be have more importance in the Super Eagles squad since the conclusion of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Of the seven goals scored by Gernot Rohr's side since the tournament in Egypt, Osimhen has contributed to six goals (4 goals, 2 assists) and his best performance came against Lesotho in the AFCON qualifiers.
Speaking to Karim Baldé and Louis Decroix of Bal des Productions, Osimhen said : ''Every player is important in the Super Eagles even though you are on the bench or you are starting, I am really happy the coach put his faith in me and try to make me fill in the shoes of Ighalo which he has really done well for the national team.
''We are a young squad like I always say and we want to continue to do well for the country and also for our clubs and bring the form back to the Super Eagle so I am really forward to qualifying for the AFCON 2021.''

Osimhen's form in the beginning of the season at Lille helped him clinch a starting spot in the Super Eagles.

This season, Osimhen has tallied ten goals in all competitions for Lille and produced two assists.
