The English Football Association are now officially in the driving seat for the services of Queens Park Rangers attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze ahead of their Nigerian counterparts, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Having previously played seven friendly matches for England U20 squad, Eze made his competitive debut for England as their U21 team thrashed Albania 3-0 in a European U21 Championship qualifying match on Friday, November 15, coming on to replace Manchester City's Phil Foden in the 81st minute.
Thus, the Queens Park Rangers star became provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth, meaning FIFA has to approve a change of association request if he decides to play for the Super Eagles in the future.
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr and Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick have openly courted Eze and the football administrator was due to travel to the English capital for talks with the player and his camp over switching his allegiance to the three-time African champions.
It is believed that things will be more difficult for Pinnick and Rohr now in their attempt to lure Eze after he played his first competitive match for England.
The Londoner trained with the Super Eagles in March 2017 ahead of a cancelled friendly with Burkina Faso.
