Nigeria 0 Senegal 2: Flying Eagles Beaten By Young Lions Of Teranga In WAFU B U20 Showpiece
Published: December 16, 2018Nigeria's U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles on Sunday evening lost 2-0 to Senegal in the final of the U-20 WAFU Cup in Lome, Togo.
The Senegalese scored two second half goals through Amadou Sagna and Youssouph Badji in the 46th and 70th minute respectively, albeit the Nigerian side battled hard to redeem the situation.
Paul Aigbogun's team reached the final after a 5-4 penalty shootout win over Mali after a scoreless draw in regulation time in their semifinals contest.
Mali edged past Niger 2-1 in the third place match earlier in the evening.
Nigeria will be one of the West African teams to campaign in the 2019 CAF U-20 Nations Cup in Niger February 2-17 with the four semifinalists representing Africa at next year's FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
