Manager Mikel Arteta has selected three young stars of Nigerian descent in Arsenal's travelling squad for a mid-season training camp in the United Arab Emirates, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, fullback Josh Nichols and attacking midfielder Ethan Nwaneri were among the players that boarded the team flight to Dubai at Stansted Airport on February 6, 2025 in Essex.
With Arsenal knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup following defeat to Manchester United in the third round, the first team players have headed to Dubai for an intense warm weather training camp as part of preparations for the remaining matches in the UEFA Champions League and Premier League.
The Gunners will return to the English capital before their Premier League meeting with Leicester City on February 15.
Nichols and Butler-Oyedeji made their first team debuts this season, with the defender going the distance in a 5-1 rout of Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup back in September and the striker coming off the bench in stoppage time in a Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb last month.
As for Nwaneri, theoretically, he's still an academy player though he has been with the first team since the start of pre-season preparations.
The England U19 international has performed beyond expectations this season, registering seven goals in twenty three appearances across all competitions, including seven starts.
Nwaneri and Butler-Oyedeji trained with Arsenal's first team in Dubai in December 2022.
