Confirmed: West Ham United part ways with left-footed Nigerian forward
Published: February 06, 2025
With a statement on the official website, West Ham United have announced that left-footed Nigerian forward Favour Fawunmi has departed the club.
Fawunmi has departed the Hammers following the expiration of his contract on January 31, 2025.
He signed a short-term deal after finishing his scholarship with West Ham United in the summer of 2024, allowing him to focus on recovering from injury.
The 18-year-old tried his luck at Queens Park Rangers last February, featuring as a trialist in a Professional Development League fixture against Bristol City at TSG Elite Training Center, but a deal did not materialize.
In the 2022/23 season, he made 24 appearances for the U18s, contributing ten goals as they clinched the Premier League South and FA Youth Cup double.
Fawunmi joined West Ham at U15 level and made his debut in the U18 Premier League in his final season as a schoolboy.
This season, he represented West Ham in the Premier League International Cup, National League Cup, Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.
According to The Standard, Fawunmi is attracting interest from Greek Super League champions PAOK.
He has been offered a three-year contract, and if PAOK win the race to sign him, they plan to use him in the second team until the summer before including him in the first team's pre-season.
