Outstanding Super Eagles GK Uzoho Banishes Cadiz Memories After Starring Vs Sporting Gijón
Published: December 10, 2018Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho came through Sunday's comeback game against Sporting Gijón unscathed.
The Deportivo de La Coruña loanee had been out of action since November 4 after suffering a fracture of the seventh costal arch following a heavy blow to the ribs in Elche's 5-1 loss to Cadiz.
Uzoho was the architect of Elche getting a point from the Segunda División game which ended goalless, making a couple of crucial saves.
In the 7th minute, the Nigeria international diverted a goal-bound shot for a corner before saving a point-blank shot .
The highlight of his performance was preventing Englishman Nick Blackman from finding the net in the 74th minute after he put off the Sporting Gijon striker just as he was taking a spot-kick.
Apart from that unfortunate game against Cadiz, Uzoho has kept clean-sheets (3) in all the matches he has featured for Elche in the Spanish second-tier so far this season.
