Catch up on the Nigerian players that were on target for their respective clubs on Saturday, December 8.
In the EFL Championship, Bolton Wanderers lost 3-2 to Norwich City who needed a late goal in the 94th minute to claim the win.
Former Flying Eagles striker Sammy Ameobi netted his second league goal of the season in the 63rd minute but was sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offense.
A division lower, in-form midfielder Joe Aribo scored his third goal in five games but it was not enough to prevent Charlton Athletic from losing 2-1 to Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
Nine minutes after the restart, Aribo slammed the ball home to make it 1-1, only for substitute Nathan Delfouneso to net the winner with three minutes left.
Remaining in the third tier of English football, ex-Arsenal youth-teamer Fejiri Okenabirhie scored a late consolation goal for Shrewsbury Town in a 2-1 loss to Burton Albion at Pirelli Stadium.
The standout performance by a Nigerian in the division was from ex-Flying Eagles invitee Freddie Ladapo who scored a brace as Plymouth Argyle were held to a 3-3 draw by Bradford City at Home Park.
The former Crystal Palace man headed home a corner to make it 1-1 in the 12th minute and his 12th of the season in the 74th minute saw Plymouth Argyle claim a share of the spoils.
In the EFL League Two, Lincoln City took all three points against Stevenage at The Lamex Stadium thanks to John Akinde, who converted a penalty he won in the 11th minute.
In the Turkish Super Lig, Eddy Onazi was among the scorers as Trabzonspor beat Konyaspor 3-0 at Medical Park Stadyumu.
The Super Eagles midfielder closed the scoring in the 89th minute, his first goal in the league since September 2018.
Aminu Umar helped Rizespor share the spoils with Galatasaray by scoring in the 67th minute as both teams played out a 2-2 draw. The Dream Team VI striker was also on target vs Ankaragücü at the end of last month.
Finally, Peter Olayinka got on the scoresheet for the second time in three games as Slavia Prague earned a 3-2 win against FK Mlada Boleslav in a Czech Liga clash at Sinobo Stadium.
Olayinka, a summer arrival from KAA Gent, struck in the 73rd minute to give his side a 3-0 lead.
