Super Eagles Set For First Training Session On South African Soil After Landing In Johannesburg
Published: November 16, 2018Nigeria's National Team flew into Johannesburg in the early hours of Friday morning ahead of an eagerly anticipated 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against South Africa, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Super Eagles players and officials have been booked in to stay at Capital Hotel/Apartment in Katherine street in Sandton situated in the Johannesburg Municipality.
Per Confederation of African Football regulations, the Super Eagles are expected to train at the match venue, the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, starting from 1500 hours.
The Delta State Government which hosted the Super Eagles for four days got a one-off approval for the team to be airlifted to South Africa from Asaba on Thursday evening.
The first time Nigerian and South Africa faced each other in an official match was in 1992 with the Super Eagles running out 4-0 winners but the game everyone remembers for now is the shocking 2-0 loss to Bafana Bafana in Uyo on match day one of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
The Super Eagles will qualify for next year's tournament in Cameroon with a game to spare if they avoid defeat on Saturday.
