Super Eagles Meet With FIFA To Discuss World Cup Referees, Hold Photo Shoot
Published: June 12, 2018Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Super Eagles did not hold any form of training on Tuesday morning, instead, they held a meeting with football governing body, Fifa, to discuss referees at the 2018 World Cup.
During the meeting, Fifa advised the players that they must treat the referees and other match officials with respect.
They rounded up their morning activities with a World Cup photo shoot and the two activities lasted for about one and half hours.
Nigeria collected nine yellow cards in their first appearance at the World Cup in 1994, with Sunday Oliseh and Michael Emenalo shown two yellows each, and Mutiu Adepoju, Emmanuel Amuneke, Augustine Eguavoen, Stephen Keshi aand Chidi Nwanu issued one yellow card each.
In 1998 in France, the Super Eagles accumulated eight yellow cards, while they were the most disciplined team in Korea/Japan 2002 with only two cautions received by Efe Sodje and Taribo West.
Sani Kaita entered the Nigerian history books for the wrong reasons when he was sent off against Greece at South Africa 2010, becoming the first Super Eagles player to be sent off at the World Cup.
The Nigerian national team were the second most disciplined team at Brazil 2014 with three yellow cards, behind Portugal with two.
