Ex-Arsenal Academy Chief: Why We Kicked Out Harry Kane
Published: February 12, 2018Former Arsenal academy chief Liam Brady has explained why the Gunners ended their association with Harry Kane after one season at the academy.
Kane was eight when he joined Arsenal's Hale End Academy and was released after only one season with the club.
''He was a bit chubby, he wasn’t very athletic but we made a mistake. But Tottenham sent him out on loan to lower-division clubs three or four times as well,'' Brady told Corriere della Sera.
''But through his determination he has carved out an amazing career and he deserves it. He has a character that drives him to improve all the time.
''After Messi, Ronaldo and Lewandowski, there is Harry Kane. The statistics speak for themselves and he’s still only 24.''
Kane became Tottenham's record goalscorer in the Premier League when he notched a brace against Everton on match day 23 to take his tally to 98.
