Chelsea Nigerian Whizkids Could Face Manchester United, Real Madrid In UYL
Published: February 07, 2018Chelsea could be drawn against Manchester United in the round of sixteen of the UEFA Youth League when the draw is held on Friday, February 9.
The Red Devils U19s booked their place in the next round following their 2-0 win at Brodarac, courtesy of strikes from Boonen and Ivančević (o.g.).
As Group C winners, two-time champions Chelsea will be paired against one of the play-off winners excluding Atlético Madrid whom they met in the group stage.
One of Feyenoord , Internazionale Milano, Manchester United , Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Salzburg will be their next opponents in the round of 16 on 20/21 February.
Chelsea have registered three players of Nigerian descent for the knockout rounds : Jordan Aina, Tariq Uwakwe and Faustino Anjorin.
Uwakwe and Anjorin featured for the Blues in the group stage but schoolboy Jordan Aina has yet to debut in the competition.
Jordan's elder brother, Ola Aina, made his debut in the UEFA Youth League against Swiss side FC Basel on November 26, 2013, and he is the first player representing an English club to have amassed 20 appearances in the competition.
