Manchester United retained the Sparkasse & VGH Cup in Germany after beating Austria Vienna on penalties on Sunday, January 7.

Mannani Bughail-Mellor opened the scoring for the young Red Devils, Prokop equalized for Austria Vienna and in the penalty shootout the English team showed the stronger nerves to win 4-3.

United topped the TSN-Beton group with 18 points after beating FC Schalke 04, Hannover 96, JFV Rhume / Oder, TuSpo Petershütte, JSG Radolfshausen / Eichsfeld and FC Gleichen.

In the second round, Kieran McKenna's side made up of U17 players, overcame Eintracht Braunschweig and Eintracht Frankfurt.

They thrashed Mainz 5-2 in the quarterfinal and qualified for the showpiece game after a 2-0 win against English rivals Fulham in the semifinal.

Manchester United scored an impressive 46 goals in 11 matches, with
Mason Greenwood finishing as their top scorer with 13 goals.
