Nigerian Winger On Target As Arsenal Puts Four Past Stoke In U18 PLC
Published: December 02, 2017Arsenal made it four wins from their last four matches in all competitions after beating Stoke City 4-2 in the U18 Premier League Cup at Clayton Wood Training Ground (Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire) on Saturday afternoon.
Two players of Nigerian descent in Xavier Amaechi and Tobi Omole started for the Gunners, teammates goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo and James Olayinka were named on the bench.
Arsenal made a great start when Amaechi found space in the box and dinked the ball beautifully over the goalkeeper in the third minute, but the lead lasted only seven minutes with Abdoulaye Toure leveling for the home team.
In the second half, Nathan Collins was on the mark for Stoke City while Rowe-Smith, Robbie Burton and Matt Smith registered their names on the score-sheet for the young Gunners.
Amaechi, an England U16 international, has now scored three goals for Arsenal U18s since his return from injury two weeks ago.
In the other Group F match, United States Soccer Federation target Owen Otasowie started on the bench for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Manchester United at Compton Park.
